DESCRIPTION:*COMMUNITY AND CULTURAL EVENTS\n\nThe grand opening of Caboose 507 will provide accessible opportunities for everyone to view this treasure from Salem’s history. Join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 AM\, then stick around to celebrate with free admission to the museum for the day\, plenty of activities for the kids\, and smash burgers available for purchase\, courtesy of Lively Station.\nIn 2015\, the Willamette Heritage Center was offered a unique treasure – 1909 Oregon & California Caboose #507. Since its retirement\, the Caboose has rested in a forest outside of Eugene\, Oregon. The property owner offered the caboose to the WHC in hopes that it could be restored and preserved as a symbol of the Willamette Valley’s past.
